Sunny Southern California has been my home for 45 years, where my heart truly lies. My family and I, natives of Inglewood, moved inland to be near my grandmother, Lela Franklin, whose legacy of love for God, family, and education still inspires me. I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino, in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in communications, aiming to become a journalist. However, life had different plans.
An opportunity to teach children with special needs led me to pursue a teaching credential and a Master of Science in Special Education in 2009. I later obtained certification in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2014 and became a board-certified behavior analyst in 2015.
With nearly twenty years in education, I’ve also worked as a mental health rehabilitation specialist, therapeutic behavior coach, and education and leadership consultant. I am a creative at heart, a published poet, a songwriter, a greeting card designer, and an award-winning author. Above all, I am a single mother of three and a devoted family member and advocate.
